Cook’s wants to remind you that January is National Radon Month. Here’s the press release from the EPA for 2017:

(Lenexa, Kan., Jan. 5, 2017) – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has designated January as National Radon Action Month. During the observance, it is the agency’s goal for people throughout the country to recognize that radon is a health hazard with a simple solution. People should use January as the time to “Test, Fix, Save a Life.”

“Testing your home for radon is one of the easiest ways to help keep your family safe and healthy. Radon exposure is preventable. Test kits are inexpensive and readily available. Reducing exposure protects families, saves lives and avoids the health care costs of radon-caused lung cancer. Everyone who takes action helps to make America’s homes and schools safer for future generations.”

Janet McCabe

Acting Assistant Administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation, EPA
